Focus Standard: 6.8. Students will demonstrate an understanding of Earth's place in the universe and the interactions of the solar system (sun, planets, their moons, comets, and asteroids) using evidence from multiple scientific resources to explain how these objects are held in orbit around the Sun because of its gravitational pull.

Solar System Project Description: Scholars researched specific factual information on the planets of the solar system. They used data tables, charts and various resources to describe the relative locations and physical features of the solar system’s planets.

"Reading Will Take You Places Out of This World"!

During the Higgins Middle School summer family engagement activities, scholars, parents, and family members demonstrate instructional practices for Reading, Math, and Science. Teacher-practitioners guided the scholars and their family members as they completed each activity.

Through the completion of each activity, parents and family members learned various ways to support their child at home and also learned about the different strategies we teach in the classroom.

Each of these images captures determination, motivation, and joy. This event provided our teacher-practitioners, scholars, parents, and family members the opportunity to experience the importance of bonding and building positive relationships.
